What Do Any of Us Really DO?

"What do you do?" is something I try not to ask people. What do any of us do? How do you even begin to answer such a question?

As someone who has been making it all up, um I mean evolving, for years, my answer has been a jumbled mess.

I'm a stay-at-home-mom. I'm a professional hugger. I love people. I make soap and I sell it. I write a lot of words down. I'm an astrology student. I'm an (excellent) cook. I'm a yogi. I'm an idea generator. I'm a bookworm. I'm passionate about the health of the environment. I'm on a relentless quest of self-discovery.

What you "do" can sometimes be as easy as saying one labeling word or phrase, but we all know that cannot possibly capture the essence of what you actually do. And on top of that we are constantly learning and morphing into new versions of ourselves.

Needless to say, I've yet to perfect my elevator speech. But I don't think that's a bad thing. I'm long-winded about all things identity.

It's what I do.
